Brief
Relaunch a quarterly magazine in print and as a digital flipbook for Wales & West Utilities, a gas supply network covering more than seven million customers, to modernise the important communication channel based on the feedback of its hard-to-reach readers.
Challenge
Deliver an up-to-date, engaging design to a strict timeline and include more “on the ground” colleagues from all areas of the business. As well as providing fresh, timely content and quality images from our photographer, we also transform submitted pictures from staff members to uphold the high quality of the magazine. It has been downsized to a more compact page size, giving a more modern feel. We have also updated the design to make it less restricting and more fluid, letting the content dictate the layout. The magazine is published quarterly, aligning with Wales & West Utilities’ four company values.
Result
A refreshed magazine with a sense of unity and collaboration that has been very well received by the client and by readers, winning an Institute of Internal Communication Award in 2014 in the relaunched publication class and an Award of Excellence in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
