Year 10 Student

Throughout my week at Pages Creative, I was able to produce a promotional poster for my favourite band’s album release, as well as one about the Bolshoi Dance Academy’s Swan Lake production in Moscow.

My first day started with brainstorming different concepts and thinking about what I wanted to achieve by the end of the week, aligned with my skills and interests—photography, graphic design, and art. The team consistently supported me in expanding my creative skills using Apple Macs, which I spent a day trying to figure out.

At the end of the day, I presented my ideas to Jason and Ben, which led to a discussion about the tasks I needed to complete to create my posters, and who could support me with my plans.

The graphic designers taught me how to use software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom, as well as many useful keyboard shortcuts.

I also shadowed many members of the team to understand what a day in the office would be like, sitting in on meetings and learning how decisions are made about publication issues and layouts.

Overall, I’ve learned that I really enjoy design and collaboration. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout the week in bringing my ideas to life—and of course to the dogs, Stanley and Douglas, who were very entertaining and cute.
