Because I have an interest in creative work and designing things, Pages Creative felt like the perfect place for me to do my work experience. Throughout the time I spent here, I created a front cover for a magazine, as well as a double page spread on my favourite interest, Formula 1.
On my first day, I was given the freedom to write my own design brief to create a project I would be interested in working on. After typing out three ideas on what I could focus on for the week I shared my briefs with the team, and they helped me to choose which project could be the best to create. Coming up with project ideas gave me a sense of independence while still being supported by everyone when in need of help.
Shadowing many people from the team helped me to see what a regular working day would be like, and seeing how they deal with projects taught me how to work with assignments as well as learning to use layouts and new programs. It was amazing to work with different people who are all specialists in different areas of their process. In my time here I learned how to use programs that were all new to me such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop which I now have a better understanding of all.
A huge thank you to everyone on the team, I am very grateful for the time they dedicated to helping me create my designs and support me through the week. I have had a very enjoyable time and I’m taking away valuable skills which will benefit me in the future.
